MY Story: Handcrafted Beauty for Cozy Living
Designer Inspired by Iceland
My name is Veronika Levkovic. I’ve lived in Reykjavik, Iceland for more than 5 years. With a background in Art School and Fashion Design studies in Lithuania, my creative journey took a definitive turn in 2019 when I first encountered Iceland. It was love at first sight.
During my studies, I created looks inspired by the Icelandic landscape under the theme "Lost in the Lava Fields."
For my bachelor’s thesis, I delved deep into the concept of Icelandic femininity.
While traveling across the island, I observed that Icelandic women remain unyielding, strong, and self-confident. In Icelandic consciousness, a woman is a symbol of power.
The guardian spirit of the country is identified with the "Mountain Woman" – merciful, majestic, and maternal. This is why Iceland's three most powerful volcanoes bear women's names: Katla, Hekla, and Krafla. I used the acronym of these volcanoes for my collection title: "KHK".
Experimental creations of "Lost in the Lava Fields"
By interpreting the achromatic tones of the northern landscape, natural phenomena, and the peculiarities of Icelandic culture and mythology, the "KHK" collection was born—embodying the powers of the primordial woman.
Bachelor’s thesis collection: "KHK"
After a meaningful hiatus to focus on my son’s first three years, I am stepping back into my creative studio. Inspired by the Scandinavian tradition of splashing vibrant colors across the city, I have created a series of cozy, handmade pillow covers.
Using the Casaguldi (punch needle) technique, I’ve given traditional Icelandic protection runes a 3D effect. These aren't just home accessories; they are tactile symbols of safety and heritage, designed to bring both warmth and ancient Nordic protection into your modern home.
